Design
Our design services include ecological analysis, site mapping, and short- and long-term planning based on your needs. We’ll help you clarify your needs and visions and match them with our expertise to develop a practical plan of implementation. Schematic plans, written report, and budget analysis included. Rate is $60/hr.
Consultation
For clients needing guidance on how to integrate ecological perspectives into their land-use practices. Specific questions will be answered and goals formulated. Further resources for you to obtain the information necessary to realize your goals are offered. We can provide audio recording or typed notes, if necessary. Rate is $60/hr.
Installation
On-site coordination and oversight of all phases of installation is also available. We have all the skills, tools, and experience to translate our designs into a living reality. We are not licensed contractors, but will manage the project as an ‘independent contractor’. However, your involvement in the labor is also encouraged. Short-term ‘all at once’ installation or long-term ‘phase-by-phase’ implementation is possible depending on your needs. We prioritize ecological and economical methods equally. Rate is $40/ hr. for management and $25/hr for each assistant.
Education
Brian Barth is available for public talks and workshops in the areas of Permaculture Design, sustainable water management in the landscape, edible landscaping, food forests, ecology as a tool for personal growth, plant propagation and appropriate horticulture, and local ecology. Brian will also host workshops and events in related fields at the educational facility of the Live Earth Farm and Mataganza Garden Sanctuary near Watsonville.
Can’t afford to pay for landscape installation? We’ll organize an experiential workshop called “Transform You Lawn into a Food Forest” to help offset the costs. Client pays for design services and materials. Workshop participants do most of the labor.
